Josef Albers was a German-born American artist, educator, and color theorist whose groundbreaking contributions to abstract art fundamentally transformed modern painting and art education. A pioneering figure of the Bauhaus movement and one of the most influential artists and teachers of the twentieth century, Albers dedicated his career to exploring the interaction of color, perception, geometry, and visual experience through painting, printmaking, drawing, and design.
